entX Limited has secured $1.901 million of conditional funding from the South Australian Government’s Economic Recovery Fund (ERF) for Manufacturing Innovation, selected among seventeen recipients out of 280 applicants. Under entX’s new subsidiary, IsoMedica, this funding will propel this pioneering Isotope extraction project, aimed at addressing critical challenges in and local supply chains for manufacturing Lu-77 and Pb-212 based nuclear medicines essential for global cancer treatment.
The Economic Recovery Fund, totalling $154.2 million, represents a concerted effort by the South Australian Government to stimulate economic activity, foster innovation, and create sustainable employment opportunities across various sectors. entX will match this funding which will help to accelerate efforts in advancing sovereign nuclear supply chains through cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.
“This funding is a testament to our commitment to revolutionise the nuclear medicine landscape,” said Leigh Whicker, Commercial Manager, entX. “Our project aims to address critical challenges in accessing precursor isotopes essential for manufacturing Lu-77 and Pb-212 nuclear medicines, crucial in cancer treatment globally.”
The initiative underscores entX’s strategic focus on enhancing Australia’s capabilities in nuclear medicine production, leveraging local resources to bolster global pharmaceutical supply chains. By establishing robust manufacturing processes for isotopes, entX Limited aims to ensure consistent and reliable access to these vital medical resources, even during phased trials.
“The support from the South Australian Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) is pivotal in propelling our project to scale,” Leigh added. “This funding not only validates our innovation but also positions South Australia at the forefront of nuclear medicine manufacturing.”
The project aligns closely with the state’s broader economic development goals, including enhancing productivity, increasing exports, and fostering the adoption of innovative technologies across industries.
The funding announcement marks a pivotal moment for entX and sets the stage for a new era of growth and innovation in South Australia’s industrial landscape.
